Lodewijk van Gorp
My name is Lo and I’ve been working as a musician through the past 20 years. If you’re intersted in my work, please check: theprincessproject.nl and liquid-spirits.com.
Lo van Gorp (1973) started playing saxophone in his early teens. Within a few years he already played in several bands and decided to be a student at the Hilversum Conservatory. During his studies he encountered many musicians he still works with today and at that time the band “All the king’s men” was formed by producer/pianst Reyn Ouwehand. ATKM won the Heineken Crossover Award in 1994, but the band fell apart before releasing their first CD.
After some touring through the Dutch theatres with Hans Visser (Flairck), Lo was asked to be a background singer in Marco Borsato’s band (Holland’s main artist). At that time, he had just begun his singing career and within a short period of time he ended up being one of the most frequently requested session musicians in the Netherlands.
Occasionally he works with Candy Dulfer, Alain Clark, the Metropole Orchestra, Cor Bakker and Stephan Geusebroek. Through te years he’s been performing with a.o. Al Jarreau, Oleta Adams, Roger Hodgson, Giorgia, Vince Mendoza, Chaka Khan, Hans Vermeulen and Madeline Bell.
In 2008, Lo’s first album appeared, which he made with Simone Pormes and Karel Boehlee, together forming The Princess Project. The album “Storybook” is a high-end collection of songs, sung by both Simone and Lo. The most talented musicians gave their musical input to this album: Toots Thielemans, Peter Tiehuis and Hein van de Geyn and many others. In the end of 2010 a beautiful HD-video registration will appear, directed by John Twigt.
At the end of 2008, Liquid Spirits released their album “Music”. Lo is one of the four lead singers of this band that performs only original repertoire that stylistically flirts with soul music of the seventies. This band cooperates with a.o. Layla Hathaway and Leon Ware.
At this moment Lo is working on a solo-album.
